Trump Officials Held Secret Meetings With Prominent Canadian Group Seeking To Secede
Have met with US State Department officials in Washington on no less than three separate occasions over the past nine months.
Per The Daily Beast, a State Department spokesperson has admitted that the meetings took place but suggested nothing has been agreed to, stressing that “no commitments were made.”

Leading Democrats had previously granted their blessing to the homeland security bill, which was written by a bicameral, bipartisan group. However, they have rescinded their support since the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, 37, in Minneapolis during an interaction with federal officers.
Schumer also requested negotiations to insert new policies into the homeland security bill, such as requirements that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers obtain warrants for deportations and show their faces.
FLASHBACK: In October and November of 2025, several attempts were made to withhold pay from members of Congress during a government shutdown.

Withhold Member Pay During Shutdowns Act: Introduced by Rep. Bryan Steil and Sen. John Kennedy, this bill would stop pay for members of Congress during a shutdown and prevent them from receiving back pay.
No Work, No Pay Act of 2025: Introduced by Rep. Mike Kennedy, this legislation aims to ensure that if the government is not functioning, members of Congress are not paid.
Constitutional Amendment: Rep. Ralph Norman and Rep. Vern Buchanan have proposed a constitutional amendment to prohibit pay for members of Congress during a shutdown.
No Pay for Congress During Default or Shutdown Act: A bipartisan bill, this legislation would withhold pay for members of Congress if the government shuts down or hits the debt limit.
